From Where I Sit, You’re One Of A Kind

The sweetest song you will probably ever hear

This week I am currently into the song “The guy that says goodbye to you is out of his mind” by Griffin House.

I want to tell you about my favorite song, I usually do not write about songs because I like so many of them I do not want to take the time to explain why I like the songs I do, so on and so forth.

This song is different, as a girl I want to be adored the way the guy in this song describes. I think everyone does, Mark Twain has a quote that says it best;

Love is the irresistible desire to be irresistibly desired

Seriously, listen to this song once (or just read these lyrics) it is so good. I enjoy other songs by Griffin House, if you like this song check out his cd which is available on itunes, or go to his website.

The Guy That Says Goodbye To You Is Out Of His Mind By, Griffin House

You don’t need to change a thing about you babe
I’m telling you
From where I sit, you’re one of a kind
Relationships, I don’t know why, they never work you and they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you is out of his mind
Well I been down and I need your help I’ve been feeling sorry for myself
Don’t hesitate to boost my confidence
I been lost and I need direction, I could use a little love-protection
What do you say, honey, come to my defense?
I’ll stand up for you if it’s what you need and I can take a punch, I don’t mind to bleed
As long as afterwards you feel bad for me
And you give me all of your attention I got deep desire and it needs quenchin’
I think that’s pretty plain for you to see
Hell, enough about me and more about you cause that’d be the gentlemanly thing to do
I hope you like your men sweet and polite
I thought I was done with telling you but I ain’t nearly halfway through
I got a few more things I’d like to say to you tonight
You don’t need to change a thing about you babe
I’m telling you
From where I sit you’re one of a kind
Relationships, I don’t know why, they never work out and they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you is out of his mind
You always did kind of drive me crazy and pissed me off ‘cause I let it faze me
But I never wanted my time with you to end
Now I’m back in town for a day or two and mostly I came back just to see you
I’m leaving now but I don’t want to go
You don’t need to change a thing about you babe
I’m telling you
From where I sit you’re one of a kind
Relationships, I don’t know why, they never work out and they make you cry
But the guy that says goodbye to you is out of his mind

Listen To It!

I’m So Excited, I Just Can’t Hide It

This past week I had the pleasure of getting my first passport
Since I have never experienced leaving the country I was very excited about getting my passport.

I walked up to get my picture taken and could not stop smiling, all I could think about was “This is my ticket to go ANYWHERE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD!” and this thought still brings a very large, dorky smile to my face.

As I stood there waiting for the women to take my picture she said,
“Ready, Don’t smile”

I had to restrain myself, I was literally holding my breath to stop myself from grinning ridiculously large. Apparently you are not allowed to smile in your passport photo anymore.

Grins Banned From Passport Pics

Still Smiling…
I suppose it is easier to recognize a neutral expression with the mouth closed and eyes open (opposed to squinted from a large smile) But for me, it will probably be easier for the folks at the airport to identify me as the woman in the passport picture if I was smiling, because I will continue to have a very large smile on my face while at the airport and probably the entire time I am out of the country. Simply because, I am excited to leave the country. I am excited to travel, and it is because of this that as soon as I get to the airport I will never stop smiling, no matter how hard I try.

On Top Of The No Smiling Rule…
There are a few other rules that apply to passport pictures, they all make perfect sense but it is a lot to think about while taking a picture. I am a little bit nervous that my picture did not follow every rule.

Some Folks Just Look Awkward Using an iPod

Here are some tips for the ipod user who wishes to look more natural with their ipod, as if they were born with it.

Avoid Holding Your iPod During Use
Putting your ipod in your pocket is good, the new ipod shuffles make this easy because of the little clip it has so you can “wear” your ipod as an accessory (genius!) The only time you should be caught holding your ipod is if you happen to be switching songs during your walk. This brings me to my next tip…

Make A Playlist
No body likes that guy, the one that has his head down as he constantly searching for that perfect song to listen to. He has no idea but he is running in to things and making everyone around him have to dodge his presence. Avoid all this hassle by making a playlist of songs you want to hear before heading out, it makes life easier for you and everyone else walking around you.

iPods In Awkward Places
There are some places that just make the ipod look awkward. For example; your pants, your ipod should never come out of your pants unless it is a pocket. I know there are iboxers (for both men and women) that have an ipod pocket in them but it just looks awkward.

Are we in agreement?

IF YOU OWN AN IPOD SHUFFLE!
Be careful where you clip them, They are good on pockets, belts, sides of jackets as long as they are not near your face. THEY ARE NOT GOOD ON SKIN. To avoid looking stupid, do not clip your shuffle to your lip, ear, finger, cheek, hair, or anywhere that is not clothing.

The Tangle
The headphones, those can get in the way sometimes. You know when you go to pull out your ipod and you are trying to be smooth but the cord is all tangled, then when you finally get your cord untangled it is all over the place making loops and curls. This is hard to avoid but not impossible, untangle your cord before you get up to make the walk with your ipod. You want to make sure you do this so you are not that guy that is running into people and walking in front of moving cars just because he is working on a really tough tangle.

Avoid Tangles While On The Go
You know when you are walking and a huge chunk of your cord is out in the open there is something wrong for two reasons;
1) Too much cord looks dumb, keep your cord tucked into the pocket your ipod is coming from.
2) If two much cord is visible the unacceptable is ound to happen, THE TANGLE.

Keep that cord out of sight and out of mind!

Bigger Is Not Always Better
Especially when it comes to headphones, Be sure you keep your giant headphones for at home use only. The guy with the giant headphones looks like he has no idea what is going on in the world around him this also makes him completely unapproachable. Giant headphones do not get a better sound than the smaller more realistic headphones, in the end they are just bulky and awkward.

Nobody wants to hear what you are listening to
Whatever you do, don’t be that ipod guy. You know the one that can’t seem to figure out the volume on his ipod, everyone in the room can hear his music blasting his poor little ears. I mean how loud does it have to be? It is never good music either, it is always the sound of someone dying while a chorus screams as they throw around instruments instead of playing them.

This might be a lot to take in…
But try your best so you can look completely natural and be considerate of what is going on around you. If you do not follow these instructions you might end up running into people, walls, moving cars, all while tripping on your cord.

Free School!

Today I was reading the news when I came across this article;

Boost For Free Uganda Schooling

For the first time ever children in Uganda are benefiting from being offered a free secondary education. They drop out because of the high cost of fee’s

Why is it free?
It is free because less than half of the children in Uganda actually attend school, and those that do usually drop out by the time they reach secondary education.

This is great news!
One high school expects about 400 extra students to attend because of this change. This is giving students that don’t have the money for the education to still get one. The way the world is today you cannot get through life without an education, it is very clear that need one to succeed. I agree that education is necessary but it has almost become too necessary for how expensive it can be.

Black Tea Is The Fountain Of Youth

Oprah Winfrey had a segment on anti-aging called, “Look 10 Years Younger In 10 Days” An anti-aging expert (what an odd expertise) had a list of foods that will help reduce those dreadful wrinkles (eww wrinkles)

Here are some foods that will help you keep wrinkles away

BEST CARBOHYDRATE CHOICES: Artichokes, avocados, dark-green leafy vegetables, broccoli, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, spinach, escarole, romaine lettuce, cherries, berries (blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, etc.), apples, pears, barley, beans (dried and fresh), bean sprouts, endive, eggplant, cabbage, kale, red and green peppers, bok choy, celery, cucumbers, kidney beans, pinto beans, chick peas, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, honeydew melons, lentils, bean sprouts, mushrooms, tomatoes, turnips, pomegranates, snow peas, slow cooking oatmeal

BEST PROTEIN SOURCES: Wild Alaskan salmon, halibut, trout, anchovies, sardines, poultry, yogurt, high EFA eggs, kefir, cottage cheese, tofu

BEST FATS: Extra virgin olive oil, flax oil, flax seed, nuts (esp. almonds, hazelnuts, walnuts and macadamia), pumpkin, sesame and sunflower seeds

BEVERAGES: Spring water, green tea, white tea, black tea

GRAINS:
Buckwheat, whole oats, barley

SPICES: Turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, oregano, basil, thyme, cayenne, (every spice and herb you can think of are stellar anti-aging foods)

In conclusion, there are a lot of foods to help reduce the look of aging on ones face. If you are anything like me you want to keep your face wrinkle free for as long as humanly possible. This is an easy and natural way to maintain that goal of looking young forever.
