Today while I was coaching gymnastics one of my 7th grade students said to me: You are so pretty in your facebook pictures, you’re like a gem. Much prettier than whenever I see you.
It started out as such a good compliment…I don’t think I’ve ever been called a gem before. But it doesn’t matter because apparently I’m prettier online than I am in real life.
When I go for a drive I like to pull off to the side of the road,
turn out the lights, get out and look up at the sky
And I do this to remind me that I’m really, really tiny
in the grand scheme of things and sometimes this terrifies me
I went out like this.
If you are thinking “No you didn’t” It wouldn’t surprise me, but the truth is I did.
I wish I was joking, I realize how ridiculous this looks. Don’t worry I am not a full on bucket of crazy, I had pants on that covered up the slipper socks I was wearing with my heels.
There is reasoning behind it, I wasn’t just trying to be quirky. Those heels are a tad too big for me and kept slipping off my heel. So I came up with the genius idea to put slippers on…and it worked.
I had a long night which led to a rough morning. I laid in bed thinking there is no possible way I could make it to my 9:30 Liberal Art/Political Science/History class. I tried getting up but just ended up laying down on my floor for a half an hour. Then the thought of my perfect attendance being ruined was too much for me to handle so I forced myself up off the floor.
With little time to get ready at this point and still feeling extremely under the weather I took a quick shower and got ready. With only 5 minutes of time left before I had to leave for class the only thing I had to do was my hair…
That’s when I realized it..
I had forgotten to rinse out my conditioner. My hair was greasy, crunchy, and hard in some places. I did not have time to get back in the shower and I had done too much work getting myself out of bed to just give up. So I did the only thing I could have done in that situation. I wore a baseball hat. My outfit was fabulous, giant hoodie and a baseball hat with the letters “FU” in big red letters on it. Someone told me I looked like a boy, someone else came up to me and asked me why I was dressed the way I was.
Right now I am feeling better but I am also feeling like a big sack of ugly and I need compliments stat.
Boyfriend told me that he thinks my feet are pretty.
Personally, I find feet to be gross. I don’t think feet are capable of being in any way, pretty.
I decided to take what boyfriend said as a compliment, after the shock of someone saying that feet (MY FEET) were pretty, I said thanks.
But if this turns into some weird foot fetish, it’s over. I’m sure couples have broken up over less.

Fine gem quality saltwater and freshwater pearls occur completely naturally, but this is a rare occurrence. Many hundreds of pearl oysters or pearl mussels have to be gathered and opened in order to find even one pearl. For many centuries that was the only way pearls were obtained. This was the main reason why pearls fetched such extraordinary prices
The finest quality pearls have been highly valued as gemstones and objects of beauty for many centuries, and the word pearl has become a metaphor for something rare, fine, and admirable.
I love my pearls. I feel like pearls should be worth more than diamonds, they are definitely rare and harder to find than a diamond. I am not the kind of lady that wants a lot of diamonds, lucky for my future man, I really think having too many diamonds is completely unnecessary. I would only like one piece of jewelry with diamonds on it, a ring. Just one.
